During the violent phase of the Euromaidan, Chekmenev was in the midst of events and produced an impressive visual chronicle of the Revolution of Dignity. His images recorded battles with the riot police, evacuation of the wounded, and the despair and heroism of the revolutionaries. One of the photographs from his series dedicated to the decisive days of the winter of 2014 depicts a fighter during the street battle on Hrushevsky Street. Another shows a protester who found refuge in St. Michael's Golden-Domed Monastery, which opened its doors to students being chased by police and was later turned into a makeshift hospital.
